Cats are famous for their incredible senses. The cat's outer ear flap will take in sounds from all way, and the sound then flows down their ear canals before reaching the eardrum. After the sound reverberates on the eardrum and the middle ear adjusts the vibration to sound waves and transmits them into the cochlea of the cat and then to the brain. Cats can detect sounds from twenty hertz to 65,000 hertz. A cat is more readily to a high pitch than to a lower pitch This may be the reason a cat seems to like women with the high pitch of her voice. The ears also aid cats in balancing. This is the reason why cats generally rest on their hind legs when falling.
The feline eye structure has the cornea, the lens, it's retina, its iris, along with the tapetum, lucidum. The tapetum has composed of mirror-like cells that reflect only a little light, helping a cat to see. This is the reason why a cat just requires one-half of the light that a person needs so as to see clearly. However, cats cannot see in total darkness. They also have an additional eyelid known as the haw to protect their eyes. The cat's pupil is oval in order to control the amount of light that comes into. In dim light, their pupils dilate , and they become almost round. A cat's pupil is able to dilate 3 times more than the one of a human being.
Cats average twenty four whiskers on their faces. These hairs are thick and are three times deeper. Whiskers are extremely sensitive to detect the slightest change in air flow. They also help determine if a cat is able to squeeze through a gap. In addition, the whiskers are all over the face of a cat but they're also at the back of its front legs. Whiskers are replaced every time they drop off. Cat fur is unique in that it has sensitive nerve endings that sense the slightest sensation. The paws of cats are also extremely sensitive to contact.
